Ben Borges is one of the hosts and co-creators of the “U Heard” pod. The show began with Joe in November ‘22, and not too long after brought in “Chalupa Batman”. That’s a brief synopsis of “U Heard” but here’s some background on Ben:

Leaving Panama in 1989, quickly picked up on the English language by listening to sports talk radio host Joe Zagacki, it was his 1st introduction to the Canes. This Miami Hurricanes life was embedded into his DNA.

What game got Ben hooked forever? It was the 1998 Miami vs UCLA game, Edgerrin James ran for what seemed forever and later realized it was 299, it’s still an insane stat and still the most in Miami history!

When he found myself stationed in Hawaii, serving in the U.S. Army. Ben realized very quickly that staying up-to-date with Miami would prove challenging, and the only way to watch the ‘Canes was going to be to buy an ESPN Game plan which included 6 a.m. game times.

Ben no longer resides in the frenetically paced Miami. He's now living on 5 acres. With his wife, dog, and 12 chickens. Maybe that's where the nickname “Boondocks” came from.

He will always exhibit his unbridled passion for "THE U," and at times, it may be overtly evident.

Joe Williams is a passionate Miami Hurricanes Football fan, who fell in love with the Canes at an early age. Born and raised in Queens, NY, the first college football game Joe ever watched was the 1987

Miami vs. Florida St. matchup. Growing up playing quarterback and wide receiver, Michael Irving and Brian Blades caught Joe’s eyes. He fell in love with the “swag” and from then on, Joe was a Cane.

Joe was a standout athlete at Holy Cross High School, in Flushing NY, before attending Emporia State University in Kansas. Before his college career-ending injury in his sophomore season, Joe was a top WR in the MIAA football conference. Joe took some time away from football before playing semi-pro football in Kansas City.

Joe is a loving family man, happily married with three wonderful kids. One of his children follows in his father’s footsteps, and showcases exceptional talent on the football field, eventually earning a scholarship at the University of Miami football team.

With a heart full of love for his family and a passion for football that knows no bounds, Joe Williams continues to inspire those around him with his dedication, determination, and unwavering enthusiasm for life.

Ben Ally aka Polk, is a die-hard Miami Hurricanes fan.  Ben instantly developed a love for the Canes when his Grandfather (who happened to play for the Hurricanes in the ‘50s) took him to his first game against the Gators in 1987.  And it’s been nothing but orange and green ever since.

Ben was a 3 sport athlete in high school and eventually earned a scholarship to play college baseball at Warner University in Lake Wales, FL.  Ben was a 4-year conference starter and set multiple school pitching records which led to him being drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 18th round of the 2001 MLB draft.  Ben spent 4 years in the minor leagues before settling down and starting a family.

Ben now resides in, where else, Polk County, FL, with his lovely wife of 22 years and their 2 grown sons. When he’s not hanging out or traveling with his wife, you can usually find Ben getting plenty of iron supplementation at his local gym, enjoying a nice glass of bourbon, and of course, talking Canes football.

In every aspect of his life, Ben brings the same level of dedication and passion that he shows for his beloved Miami Hurricanes. Whether it's on the pod, with his family, or pursuing his interests, Ben approaches everything with a winning attitude and a commitment to excellence.
